Agentic AI Now ?

Everyone’s talking about AI agents right now. But what struck me most? Most orgs aren’t ready.
Not because of the tech — but because of their messy workflows, missing documentation, and fuzzy roles.
The consulting firm Roland Berger's latest report outlines the big vision: agents with perception, reasoning, and action — capable of handling complex, multi-step tasks across systems and APIs.
They even map a future of “agentic meshes” and multi-agent collaboration — which sounds exciting… and very far off.
Meanwhile, they rightly emphasize what actually matters right now:
Standardized tool interaction
Agent-aware security
Knowledge graphs
Governance frameworks
All of which require serious IT investment.
But here’s the good news:
Agent-readiness doesn’t start with agents.
It starts with basics that most mid-sized teams can tackle fast — without big budgets or dev squads:
1️⃣ Clean workflows
Agents can’t reason through chaos.
But most teams still rely on tribal knowledge and undocumented hacks.
2️⃣ Clear human-in-the-loop rules
Agents escalate decisions. But who decides what, when? Most orgs haven’t defined that.
3️⃣ Structured knowledge, SOPs
You don’t need a knowledge graph yet — but you do need searchable, structured, standardized info.
4️⃣ Small, safe, scoped prototypes
RB suggests starting with narrow, high-value domains.
That means identifying 2–3 workflows to redesign — without touching your core systems.
Bottom line: Agentic AI is a future-state capability.
Agent-readiness is a today capability.
It doesn’t require:
❌ building agents
❌ multi-agent systems
❌ graph databases
❌ protocol standardization
It does require:
✔ clarity
✔ structure
✔ documentation
✔ prototype pilots
✔ team alignment
And this is where mid-sized orgs can leap ahead — long before enterprises finish rearchitecting their stacks.
