Design the System Accordingly

When reading the piece below (see link at bottom), I agree that AI amplification without reflection can create strategic echo chambers.
But I think the causal framing needs adjustment.
AI does not execute strategy. It executes instructions within constraints defined by humans. What it does exceptionally well is reduce coordination drift — the slow misalignment that happens when teams interpret strategy differently or fail to follow through.
Drift is not evolution.
Drift is entropy.
Evolution is intentional adaptation.
When used well, AI can actually strengthen evolution rather than weaken it.
Its ability to detect weak signals, surface anomalies, and connect patterns across large datasets makes it a powerful tool for identifying emerging tensions earlier than humans alone might. For that, we must build in external signal ingestion + dissent + recalibration (e.g., a monthly “outside-in” review, red-team prompts, and a clear stop-loss when the model starts overfitting to internal content).
The real risk is not “AI used too correctly.”
The risk is governance design: what data it’s fed, what signals count, what gets rewarded, and what gets reviewed.
If AI is treated as:
· a compliance engine → you get optimization loops.
· a sparring partner → you get hypothesis expansion.
· an outsourced decider → you get intellectual atrophy.
AI amplifies the structure it is embedded in.
If the organization rewards conformity, AI will scale conformity.
If the organization rewards exploration, AI will accelerate exploration.
It’s not AI’s fault.
It’s a systems design question — about incentives, review loops, and human judgment checkpoints.
AI proposes. Humans dispose.
And humans remain accountable for the consequences.
