The AI Convenience Trap

You Didn’t Lose Control. You Traded It For Convenience.

Everyone says, "Learn to use AI."

Fair enough. That's the new baseline.

But that's not the real question.

The real question is this:
As the tools keep getting smarter, are you still the one setting the direction?

Because you won't LOSE AGENCY through coercion.

You'll LOSE it through convenience, ONE "HELPFUL" CLICK AT A TIME.

One shortcut here.
One delegated thought there.
One "the model can do it faster" decision after another.

Convenience makes the trade feel harmless.
But every time you outsource a core human muscle, you WEAKEN it.

With AI, you trade freedom for convenience.

You outsource the muscles that keep you free:

First the writing.
Then the reasoning.
Then the judgment.
Then the values behind the judgment.

From the outside, things look great!
You are productive.
More productive than ever.

But inside, your operating system is rotting.

You lose your ability to steer and decide.

And once that goes, overriding the system gets hard.

You STOP CHOOSING. You're just COMPLYING.

Use AI. Absolutely.

Just don't surrender the core human loop:
Think → Decide → Act.

Every weekend, scan your week and ask yourself:

Did I set any goal this week that AI did not make, manage, or nudge for me?

If you can't spot a single one… you're not lazy. You're being driven.

WHO WAS IN THE DRIVER SEAT THIS WEEK: you or the algorithm?
